On Tuesday, March 19, members of the Calvert Kiwanis presented two computers, two monitors and two printers to representatives of the Calvert County Health Department's Crisis Intervention office.

Crisis Intervention Director David Gale said the computers would be used by Safe Harbor residents for job searches, resume building and other requirements for transitioning into financial independence. Children staying at the shelter will be able to use the computers to do school homework.

Club member George Leah Jr. said the locals purchased the equipment using some of the money that was generously donated last December by Bayside Toyota. The dealership presented the club with a $6,400 check, primarily for the purpose of purchasing Christmas gifts for deserving families in need. The $6,400 was based on the number of vehicles the local dealership sold in November.

"They [residents] will be so happy," said shelter manager Lakeyla Whitaker. "They used to have to use the computers in our office."
